Contract extension
Sáez flew back to Madrid with five members of the Spain squad this morning following their elimination from UEFA EURO 2004™ after last night's 1-0 defeat by Portugal. The remaining players were returning later in the day. Sáez signed a two-year contract extension only last month but said at the time that he might reconsider if Spain performed disappointingly at EURO 2004™.
Press conference
The press conference will take place at the headquarters of the Spanish Football Federation, Las Rozas, at 12.00CET. Sáez, 61, replaced José Antonio Camacho as national coach after the 2002 FIFA World Cup following a successful six-year spell coaching Spain's junior teams.
