The Georgian Football Federation (GFF) has announced a friendly game against Israel that will take place on 19 or 20 August.
IFA proposal
The GFF accepted the proposal of the Israel Football Association (IFA) to meet in Tbilisi at a time when the two countries will be looking ahead to UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifying matches in September. The actual date of the match will be decided at a later stage.
Past meetings
Israel and Georgia have met on three previous occasions, twice in Israel but most recently in Tbilisi in April 2001, when Georgia won 3-2 through goals from Temur Ketsbaia and Archil Arveladze.
Tblisi option for Israel
Last week the IFA discussed with the GFF the possibility of playing its EURO 2004™ Group 1 qualifiers against Slovenia on 7 June and Malta on 10 September in Georgia. The final decision on the venue for these matches will be taken by UEFA. Israel played their home game against France last week in the Italian city of Palermo.
