Results count
"We will be looking for a new coach but it is not impossible that Šušak will stay on a permanent basis. This will depend mostly on results and the way the team plays in the games in which he is in charge," GFF president Merab Jordania said.
Rock bottom
Susak replaces Alexander Chivadze, who quit the post after the 0-0 draw in Switzerland last Wednesday which left Georgia bottom of qualifying Group 10 with one point from three matches. "I would like to thank the GFF for this opportunity and I will do my best to lead the team out of the difficult situation they find themselves in," Šušak said.
Staying with Dinamo
Šušak will continue to coach Georgian Premier League leaders FC Dinamo Tbilisi. Dinamo are title favourites, having lost out to FC Torpedo Kutaisi in the championship race last season soon after the popular Šušak was appointed.
Previous experience
The Croatian's previous experience includes spells with Croatian clubs NK Dinamo Zagreb, HNK Cibalia, NK Zagreb, NK Osijek and NK Marsonia, and a stint in Slovenia with NK Izola and NK Maribor. He was also Croatia's Under-21 coach and worked as assistant to Croatian national coach Miroslav Blažević.
