Article body
Dragan Kanatlarovski has been named as the interim coach of F.Y.R. Macedonia.
Previous experience
This will be the 43-year-old Kanatlarovski's second spell in the job after he took charge from 1999 until May 2001. He replaces Nikola Ilievski who was relieved of his duties two weeks ago.
Two qualifiers left
Kanatlarovski, who is still in charge of Macedonian club FK Pobeda, will be responsible for the team until the end of the year, including the remainder of the UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifying campaign. The Macedonians, who have no chance of making it to Portugal after taking five points from their first six games, will play Group 7 rivals England on 6 September before finishing with an away match in Slovakia four days later.
Foreign coach possible
"Our deal with Kanatlarovski expires in December. It depends on the draw for the next [FIFA World Cup] qualifying round whether we will hire a foreign coach," Macedonian Football Federation general secretary Lazar Mitrovski said.
