Belarus 4-1 Latvia
Latvia ended in fourth place in the Cyprus Football Assocation Eight International Tournament after a 4-1 defeat by Belarus in Limassol.
Level at half-time
Hungary had already ended Latvia's bid to win the knockout competition on Thursday, their 2-1 victory following the UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifiers' 3-1 comeback defeat of Kazakhstan the day before. Today Vitali Bulyha put the Belarussians in front midway through the first half, but nine minutes before half-time Latvia were awarded a penalty and Mihails Zemlinskis made no mistake from the spot.
Pomanchenko hat-trick
However, on 66 minutes Maksim Romashchenko converted a spot-kick for Belarus and they never lost the lead. Romashchenko scored again from a penalty five minutes from time, and completed his hat-trick just before the end.
