Chances for all
Sáez named an 18-man squad and declared: "This is a squad for a friendly and I would like to see everyone play. The idea is that all of them will get a chance against Peru." The 26-year-old Tamudo, a surprise inclusion as cover for Fernando Torres, who is recovering from a knee injury, will hope to win his fourth cap at his home stadium of Montjuic.
Pairing up
The coach added that he is keen to see how several players succeed in developing partnerships on the pitch. "What interests me is analysing pairs, and making decisions in case anyone gets injured. I'll be studying partnerships in attack, midfield and central defence," he said.
Ins and outs
Playmaker Xavi, 24, also returns to the squad after a short absence, while Arsenal FC's new signing José Antonio Reyes is omitted to allow him time to settle in England. Despite scoring a hat-trick for AS Monaco FC on Wednesday night, striker Fernando Morientes has not been recalled. Sáez said: "If he [Morientes] keeps playing the way he is, he will be sure to figure in future squads."
