Moldova 0-2 Hungary
Goals from Krisztián Kenesei and Norbert Tóth gave Hungary a well-deserved 2-0 away victory over Moldova in a friendly today.
Defensive error
Kenesei capitalised on a defensive error to tap home the opening goal from close range after 12 minutes.
Tóth scores
Tóth added a second shortly after coming on as a substitute at the start of the second half, scoring after playing a one-two with Zoltán Böör. Hungary kept the pressure on the home side for much of the second half, limiting the Moldovans to only a handful of long-range shots.
Glee for Gellei
Hungary coach Imre Gellei was delighted with the victory. "It was a really hard game, the conditions were less then ideal," He said. "Players were fighting for every ball out there and that is why I am delighted that we scored the first goal of the match."
Defensive game
"Our attackers played very well and our two central defenders played well above 100 per cent," Gellei added. "We had to practice our defensive game and maximise our goalscoring opportunities. Winning in Europe is not an easy thing today."
EURO 2004™ preparations
The match served as preparation for the EURO 2004™ qualifiers for both teams as they failed to reach this year's FIFA World Cup finals in Korea/Japan.
