Azerbaijan coach Vagif Sadygov has named his squad for the forthcoming friendly matches against Iran.
Getman included
The Azeri national team are due to face Iran on 8 and 10 August, and will take a squad of 26 players. Sadygov is still unsure if his Russia-based players will be able to participate and has included Adaim Niftaliev, Igor Getman and Vadim Vasiljev from FC Neftchi, and FC Shafa's Ruslan Musaev in his party.
'Worthy rival'
Sadygov was in confident mood ahead of the matches but admitted that Iran will pose formidable opposition for his troops. "Iran’s national team is very strong and they will be serious opponents for us," he said. "We have been following them for quite a long time and are glad that we are now able to play Iran. The offer came from Iran Football Federation, which is a sign that they consider us a worthy rival. I think the matches will be more difficult for us than our games against Latvia and Estonia, but we will have to do all our best."
