Georgia coach Alexander Chivadze has been forced to name a weakened 17-man squad for Wednesday's friendly international with a Ukraine side spearheaded by the returning Andriy Shevchenko.
Welcome return
Dundee FC triumvirate Georgi Nemsadze, Temuri Ketsbaia and Zurab Khizanishvili are joined on the sidelines by the Arveladze brothers, Shota and Archil, and Levan Tskitishvili. SK Lierse defender Gela Shekiladze and FC København striker Mikhail Ashvetia are both recalled, while Georgi Kinkladze, the Derby County FC marksman, also makes a welcome return for the Kyiv fixture.
Upper hand
Ukraine have held the upper hand in recent meetings between the two nations. They thumped Georgia 4-0 in 1998 and were also victorious in Tbilisi, 1-0, the following year. The spoils were shared when they met in 2001 and both sides will be looking for solid performances as they gear up for the EURO 2004™ qualifying competition.
