Article body
Germany will have to travel to Lithuania for their first match in the EURO 2004™ qualifying competition.
Dates agreed
In a press conference held on Tuesday in Frankfurt am Main, the German Football Association (DFB) announced their fixture list for the EURO 2004™ qualifying campaign following a meeting with all five national associations from Group 5.
Key matches
The first meeting between the two group favourites Germany and Scotland has been scheduled to take place on 7 June 2003 at Hampden Park in Glasgow, with Germany hosting Berti Vogt’s side on 9 September 2003.
Hampden start
Vogts told BBC Radio Scotland: "We would have preferred to play them in Germany first, but they are first in the ranking and tell us what to do."
Positive mood
The former Germany coach was in positive mood when asked about the forthcoming matches against his fellow countrymen. "I do hope we will host the reigning world champions at Hampden Park, when Germany will come to Glasgow in June next year. Germany are certainly to be considered the favourites in this group but I think we should be strong enough to beat them at Hampden."
'Mc'Vogts to move
Vogts also announced he will live in Scotland for the next four years and will start his new job in time for the Under-19 international against England on 5 March.
