Article body
Poland national coach Zbigniew Boniek has included a few surprise names in his 18-man squad for the international friendly match against Denmark on 20 November in Copenhagen.
Dabrowski back after eight years
There are recalls after long absences from the national team for right-sided midfield player Roman Dabrowski of Besiktas JK, who last played for Poland in 1994, and Wisla Kraków's forward Marcin Kuzba, who won his second of two caps in 1998. The Olympique de Marseille midfield player Piotr Swierczewski also wins a place in the squad despite a disappointing 2002 FIFA World Cup.
Promising youngsters
Boniek, who watched his team lose 1-0 at home against Latvia in their last UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifying match, has also included a handful of promising younger players who are plying their trade in the Polish Ekstraklasa. Three players who are all under 22 years of age, defender Marcin Wasilewski of Wisla Plock, playmaker Sebastain Mila of KS Groclin Grodzisk Wielkopolski and Wisla Kraków midfield player Kamil Strak, have all been called up. KS Górnik Zabrze forward Andrzej Niedzielan, who has scored eleven goals in 13 Polish league games so far this season, also makes the squad.
