The Cyprus Football Association said that the Montenegrin trainer would stay despite threatening to resign after the loss in Ljubljana. The defeat left Cyprus in fourth place in Group 1 with four points from four games.
'Very embarrassed'
Vukotic, 52, had said: "My decision to resign is definite and irrevocable. I don't think I expected too much from my team and I don't think I have been betrayed by my players. But I am very embarrassed."
Mixed fortunes
Cyprus have beaten Malta and drawn with Israel but lost against group leaders France and Slovenia. They next face Israel in Palermo on 30 April.
