Liechtenstein motivated for Macedonia meeting

Liechtenstein have named their squad for the EURO 2004™ qualifier against F.Y.R. Macedonia.

Liechtenstein coach Ralf Loose has named a 20-man squad for the EURO 2004™ qualifying match against F.Y.R. Macedonia on 8 September.

Hefti out
Patrick Hefti has not been called on due to a foot injury but Loose will be able to count on the recovered Mario Wolfinger and Matthias Beck. Loose's assistant Sepp Weikl watched Macedonia's last warm-up friendly against Malta, an impressive 5-0 win. "Macedonia are very good in attack," Weikl said. "In the last two friendlies they scored four goals against Bosnia-Herzegovina and now five against Malta. The qualifying match will certainly be a challenge for us."

Plenty of motivation
Macedonia beat Liechtenstein 11-1 in a friendly a couple of years ago - a result that remains a "painful memory" for Loose. "The team will be highly motivated because the 11-1 score is still a painful memory," Loose said. "We want to show Macedonia that Liechtenstein are a class or two higher then several years ago."

Liechtenstein squad
Heeb, Jehle, Gigon, Hasler, Nigg, Ospelt, Ritter, Stocklasa, Wolfinger, Zech, Beck, Fister, Nigg, Stocklasa, Telser, Beck, Büchel, Burgmeier, D¹Elia, Frick.
