Article body
Arsenal FC's Graham Barrett has been called up by the Republic of Ireland for this month's friendly against Greece in Athens.
Stand-in coach
Barrett, currently on loan with English first division side Brighton and Hove Albion FC, is the only surprise inclusion in stand-in coach Don Givens' squad. Givens, the Under-21 coach, has taken temporary charge of the senior squad following Mick McCarthy's departure last week.
Not included
Givens has omitted Sunderland AFC duo Phil Babb and Thomas Butler, Wimbledon FC's in-form striker David Connolly and Birmingham City FC's Jeff Kenna for the match on 20 November.
Disappointing start
The Republic of Ireland have made a disappointing start to their UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifying programme, with defeats against Group 10 rivals Russia and Switzerland. They take on Greece on 20 November.
