Article body
Latvia have announced they will play a friendly international against Ukraine next spring.
Return fixture
The match on 2 April will be a return fixture after a match played in Riga in August 2001 that Ukraine won 1-0. The venue for next year's encounter has yet to be decided.
Good starts
Both sides have made good starts to their EURO 2004™ qualifying campaigns. Latvia are joint top of Group 4 with four points from two games, while Ukraine are second in Group 6 with five points from three games.
Russian recruits
Ukraine coach Leonid Buryak is confident some of his injured players will be fit by then, with the likes of Vladislav Vashuk and Dmytro Parfionov expected to be back. Buryak is also hoping to call on two new players. "Two Russians, whose names I will not disclose right now, will take Ukrainian nationality and play for us in the spring," he said.
