Romania name final six

Romania coach Anghel Iordanescu has completed his squad for the UEFA EURO 2004™ match against Denmark.

Romania coach Anghel Iordanescu has named the final six members of his squad to face Denmark.

Domestic selections
Having selected his foreign-based players for the UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifier against Denmark on 29 March, Iordanescu has added six from the domestic championship, including four from current Divizia A leaders FC Rapid Bucuresti.

Rapid influx
Rapid striker Florin Bratu, defender Adrian Iencsi and midfield players Razvan Rat and Florin Soava will be joined in the squad by FC Steaua Bucuresti defender Mirel Radoi and FC National Bucuresti goalkeeper Bogdan Vintila. Bratu has been called up as cover for Sporting Clube de Portugal's Marius Niculae who will miss the game through injury.

'Toe injury'
"Sporting Lisbon's doctors have asked us not to pick Niculae who has a right toe injury," Iordanescu said. Niculae's problems have come at a bad time for Iordanescu, who is already missing Deportivo Alavés forward Adrian Ilie and FC Nantes Atlantique's Viorel Moldovan.

Qualifying race
Romania are second in Group 2 with six points from three matches. Denmark are third with four points but have a match in hand. Norway lead the group with seven points from three matches.
