Article body
Carsten Jancker's second-half goal gave Germany a 1-1 draw in a friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina in Sarajevo tonight.
Made no mistake
Elvir Baljic put the home side ahead on 21 minutes after a mistake by full-back Carsten Ramelow, who headed a high ball straight to Bosnian midfield player Edin Mujcin. His defence-splitting pass found Baljic alone 16 metres out and the Galatasaray SK forward made no mistake.
Penalty miss
Germany could have levelled in the 35th minute when Muhamed Konjic was judged to have brought Jancker down in the box but Torsten Frings shot over the bar from the penalty spot.
Duo dismissed
The second half started with the sending-off of Hasan Salihamidzic, Bosnia's FC Bayern München-based midfield player, and Germany's Christian Wörns, and the visitors dominated the game from then on.
The equaliser
Jancker, who left Bayern for Udinese Calcio in Italy in the summer, equalised when he converted a 56th-minute cross from Sebastian Kehl at the far post. Germany play the Faroe Islands in Group 5 on Wednesday, while Bosnia visit Group 2 rivals Norway on the same day.
