Article body
Norway coach Nils Johan Semb has extended his contract until 2004 ahead of the first EURO 2004™ qualifying match against Denmark in Oslo on Saturday.
Give and take
Semb has been negotiating with the Norwegian FA for a year and the two parties have finally reached an agreement. “We had to clear up a few details," Semb said. "Nothing important, though. It will always be a bit give and take in such situations."
Huge surprise
The announcement comes as a surprise, as Semb has been under increasing pressure by the press in recent times, after failing to take Norway to the FIFA World Cup this summer.
Crucial tie
Semb took over from legendary coach Egil Olsen, who took Norway to the second round of the 1998 World Cup in France and managed to steer Norway to the EURO 2000™ finals with a 100 per cent record.
