UEFA issues EURO 2016 counterfeit ticket warning

With the final week of UEFA EURO 2016 matches ahead of us, many fans are looking to purchase tickets to see their favourite teams participating in the semi-finals and the final of the tournament.

UEFA has seen increased activity involving black market tickets around the recent quarter-finals, through both online channels as well as street sellers present around the stadiums. Multiple cases of counterfeit tickets were reported at the gates, holders of which were unable to gain access to the venue.

Ahead of the upcoming matches, UEFA officials have received further intelligence from the authorities about an increased risk of counterfeit tickets appearing on the black market ahead of the final games of UEFA EURO 2016.

In relation to these reports, UEFA would like to warn all football fans that tickets purchased through unauthorised sources, often at highly inflated prices, may be counterfeit or invalid.

Furthermore, it is a breach of ticket conditions to sell or transfer tickets for UEFA EURO 2016 matches without the authority of UEFA. Tickets transferred in breach of these conditions are void. Organisers may check names so that fans who do not have tickets matching their IDs will be refused entry.

In order to avoid any potential problems linked to black market tickets, UEFA urges all fans to refrain from acquiring tickets through unauthorised sources.
