Dimitri Payet's week-long absence from the top of the Player Barometer is over following his contribution to France's UEFA EURO 2016 quarter-final win against Iceland, with team-mates Antoine Griezmann and Olivier Giroud also in the top ten.

Player Barometer presented by SOCAR:

  • 1st: Dimitri Payet. France (+1 over quarter-finals)
Payet returned to the top of the rankings, above Gareth Bale, with his display in France's 5-2 dismissal of Iceland. His goal, assist, three attempts, three dribbles and two crosses moved him up from fourth at kick-off, the forward having last headed the table on 26 June.

Fast risers in quarter-finals

  • 6th: Mesut Özil, Germany (+6)
The playmaker gave Germany the advantage against Italy and his 90% pass completion rate was impressive – even more so given 46 of those 82 successful attempts came in the attacking third.
  • 10th: Olivier Giroud, France (+75)
The No9 put in a man of the match performance at Saint-Denis and did his chances of catching Griezmann for the Golden Boot no harm with two goals plus an assist. A constant threat to Iceland's defence, he won four aerial duels.

  • 12th: Aaron Ramsey, Wales (+26)
Giroud's Arsenal colleague Ramsey supplied two assists and set up six chances against Belgium; he also delivered seven crosses, won three corners and completed 49 out of 57 attempted passes. A tremendous midfield cameo.
  • 130th Renato Sanches, Portugal (+143)
The midfielder became the third-youngest scorer in EURO history with his effort against Poland, also distributing 36 passes in the final third on his way to being named man of the match.
