Player Barometer: Iniesta and Bonucci rise

The fourth day of UEFA EURO 2016 brought plenty of ups and downs in the SOCAR Player Barometer; updated live during matches, it should be moving fast all day as it provides an up-to-the-minute form guide at the finals.

SOCAR Player Barometer – biggest movers, 13 June*

• Andrés Iniesta, Spain 11th (+71)
  The midfield maestro provided the assist for Spain's winner against Czech Republic. His passing accuracy was phenomenal, completing 84 of his 93 passes including 45 in the attacking third. He created five chances as well as the goal. His reward? A place among the top three attacking midfielders.

• Leonardo Bonucci, Italy 14th (+54)
  The defender is up to fourth among central defenders with a magnificent defensive display capped off with an assist for the crucial opening goal. Playing amid an all-Juventus back four, he contributed seven clearances and four interceptions in a masterful performance.

• Emanuele Giaccherini 22nd (+113)
  Along with his decisive first-half strike, Giaccherini put in a solid all-round display. He found team-mates with 26 of his 31 passes and also delivered four crosses. There was also the not-insignificant matter of seven interventions at the back.

• Robbie Brady, Republic of Ireland 54th (+45)
  A strong showing down the left for Brady, who had an effort narrowly over the bar, laid on a chance, earned three corners and supplied ten crosses ... all inside the opening half-hour. He is also doing a solid job defensively, with four clearances, two aerial duels won and an interception.

• Wes Hoolahan, Republic of Ireland 69th (+245)
  The Irish scorer gave a complete performance. Besides his goal, Hoolahan had an 80% pass completion rate and 11 of his 28 completed passes were in the final third as he frequently drove forward to support the front men. He did plenty of work further back too, with six defensive interventions in a Man of the Match showing.

How it works
The UEFA EURO 2016 Player Barometer tracks players' form in the lead-up to, and during, the tournament. The Barometer runs official player statistics through a specially-designed algorithm to create rankings based on player performances.

Player data from qualifying formed the initial basis for the rankings, which have taken into account performances for club and country since 1 January 2016. This gave a unique and comprehensive evaluation of players' form for when UEFA EURO 2016 kicked off. Now the Barometer tracks which players are excelling in the tournament itself.

As the Barometer acts as a form tracker, the more recent the match, the higher the weighting assigned to the data given i.e. player stats from yesterday are afforded more significance than those from the previous week. If a player is not active (e.g. due to injury or non-selection), his ranking will decrease over that period of inactivity.
