After a delayed arrival, Belgium were swiftly whisked away to their Bordeaux base ahead of an open training session in the city on Wednesday, for which 20,000 fans are expected.

Belgium landed at Bordeaux airport this evening, six days before their UEFA EURO 2016 opener against Italy in Lyon on 13 June.

The team's personalised jet, decked out in red with the Belgian Red Devils' trident painted on the side, was delayed by half an hour due to bad weather at Brussels. They emerged into completely opposite conditions in balmy Bordeaux, however, swiftly descending the steps and boarding a bus bearing the slogan 'One team – One ambition'.

There is no doubt Marc Wilmots' men, at their first EURO since 2000, share that dream of glory. After ending a 12-year major-tournament exile by reaching the 2014 FIFA World Cup, where they were quarter-finalists, they boast a squad seen by many as Belgium's most talented ever. Importantly, it is seasoned by the experience of Brazil two years ago.

Tomorrow a 20,000 crowd is expected when the Red Devils have their first public training session at the Stade Chaban-Delmas in the late afternoon, after they have limbered up behind closed doors at their tournament base, Girondins de Bordeaux's Le Château du Haillan.
