The world champions may be favourites to advance from Group C, but coach Joachim Löw will not be taking things easy in a section which includes a Poland side which defeated his men in qualification.

Reaction
Joachim Löw, Germany coach
We will be focused from the very first game. Poland are a great side but Ukraine and Northern Ireland can be unpleasant to play against, with their counterattacking and good defending. We are the favourites and want to win the group.

The pressure is always great on Germany at such a major tournament; it doesn't matter. The situation has not changed for us. The expectations from our fans are always very high, and that's normal because Germany always play an important role in every tournament. A European Championship is an extra motivation for us, a challenge. We won the World Cup but we want to keep on improving. That's why it's an important objective for us.

I'm happy with the group we're in. Lewy is up against us! [Bayern team-mate Robert Lewandowski]

Antonio Rüdiger, Germany defender
It could have gone a lot worse for us. Nevertheless, we have to be careful. We all know the high level of football at a EURO, so you can't afford slip-ups. We saw how dangerous Poland can be during qualifying, beating us once. Northern Ireland are no doubt the unknown in our group.
