Hodgson has England homework to do

While Roy Hodgson knows plenty about Wales, the England manager accepts he has plenty of research to do on his side's other two Group B opponents, Russia and Slovakia.

A local derby with Wales was the highlight of the Group B draw for England manager Roy Hodgson who, while he is only too familiar with Chris Coleman's charges, acknowledges Russia and Slovakia are less known quantities.

Chris [Coleman] and Wales have done so well. Whatever team we got from Pot 4 it would have been tough, so we might as well play someone close to home.

Russia and Slovakia will be interesting. I have not come across either of those two teams in my international management before. There will be plenty of research between now and June and we can find out as much as we can before the campaign.

Wales are very well organised, have a team spirit and very strong spine, with Ashley Williams, Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale; very top-class European players.
