The TNS-SOFRES institute asked a sample of 1,000 people aged 18 and over about the finals in France, which will take place between 10 June and 10 July next year. A similar survey in June 2013 revealed that 33% of respondents knew that France would be hosting the tournament. Now, though, this figure has nearly doubled, to 60%.
Of those asked who were aged between 18 and 24, more than two-thirds are aware that France will be staging the UEFA European Championship next summer. Nearly half of women surveyed, meanwhile, know that it will be held in France.
There will be ten host cities, with 62% of respondents in this survey able to list at least half. The official mascot, Super Victor, was only unveiled late last year in Marseille but is already familiar, with more than a third of people questioned aware of him.
Two-thirds of people questioned think that UEFA EURO 2016 will provide an economic boost for France, with that figure rising to 72% among the 25 to 34-year-old bracket. Well over half of the public questioned are proud that their country will host the tournament, with 64% convinced that the event will contribute to increasing France's international reach.
