Milan Baroš finished as the five-goal top scorer at UEFA EURO 2004 but could not prevent the Czech Republic's semi-final elimination at the hands of surprise tournament winners Greece.
However, it was an occasion that has lingered in the forward's mind and given him the belief that Michal Bílek's current Czech charges can emulate Greece's success. "Who would have said that Greece would win EURO 2004? No one would," said the Galatasaray AŞ striker, 30. "So why can't it happen to us?"
On the other hand, Czech goalkeeper Petr Čech refused to be drawn on who will qualify from UEFA EURO 2012 Group A, with co-hosts Poland, Greece and Russia completing an incredibly open section. "Everything is very even between the teams and anything could happen," the 29-year-old said.
