Olsen still discovering new ways of working

He may be preparing to lead his country for the fourth time at a final tournament, yet Morten Olsen says he is still learning on the job ahead of UEFA EURO 2012.

Appointed in 2000, the 62-year-old will be the most experienced coach in Poland and Ukraine this summer, having previously been in the Denmark dugout at the 2002 and 2010 FIFA World Cups and the last but one UEFA European Championship.

"As coach – and it's not just a one-man show being a coach at this level – you have the responsibility and the buck stops with you," he told UEFA.com. "But you learn all the time, even as a coach, from taking part in a tournament and you don't normally get many shots at it."

Not many people have been in the national set-up longer than Olsen, but Thomas Sørensen is one of them. The Stoke City FC goalkeeper, who earned his 100th cap in the February friendly against Russia, regards his coach as a stimulating figure.

"It's great when he's around the team," said the 35-year-old. "He's the one who inspires people with his enthusiasm and his professionalism, which he also had as a player. Everyone has a great deal of respect for that and that's why he's still the national coach, because he has been able to command that respect from his players."
