Taste the Action: Dublin hospitality and Shamrock Rovers

Having already sampled the delights of Seville, Edinburgh and Bruges, Daniyal Khan made Dublin – home of UEFA Conference League contenders Shamrock Rovers – his next port of call.

"Ireland is known for two things, hospitality and serious comfort food," says Khan as he tucks into a cottage pie and then a traditional Irish stew, featuring slow-cooked meat, vegetables and potatoes.

Noting that potatoes are a major staple of the local diet, Khan samples colcannon, a mix of creamy mashed potato and cabbage (or cale), before trying out another famous local recipe. The spice bag combines fries and spicy chicken with fried onions and peppers "to heat things up before the big game".
