El Kaabi named official UEFA Europa Conference League final Player of the Match

Ayoub El Kaabi has been named Laufenn Player of the Match after his dramatic winner late in extra time earned Olympiacos a historic victory for them and for Greece, beating Fiorentina 1-0 in the 2024 UEFA Europa Conference League final.

The UEFA Technical Observer panel said: "He had very hard job today but he fought throughout and his goal was well deserved."

El Kaabi has set the competition alight since Olympiacos transferred across ahead of the knockout stage, but he had to bide his time in Athens in a final short on opportunities.

When a half-chance finally came, though, the 30-year-old took it with aplomb: his 11th goal of the competition and perhaps the most important in his club's history.
