VfL Wolfsburg confirmed a one-year contract extension for Zvjezdan Misimović on Tuesday, tying the Bosnia-Herzegovina playmaker to the club until 2013.
Cornerstone
The German champions' coach, Armin Veh, praised the creative influence of the 27-year-old who provided 20 assists last season. "Zvjezdan Misimović is one of the cornerstones of our team, not least because of his creativity on the pitch," he said. "Also, he is one of the best players in the Bundesliga when it comes to assists. We are very happy to have extended his contract for a further year."
'Feel at home'
Misimović arrived at Wolfsburg last summer from 1. FC Nürnberg and in 33 Bundesliga appearances, contributed seven goals alongside all those assists. "We have a very good team which will surely continue to improve. I feel at home here at VfL and want to continue to establish our club among the top teams," said Misimović, who failed to gain regular action at first club FC Bayern Munchen before moving on to VfL Bochum, Nürnberg and then Wolfsburg.
