Form guide

PSV

Record vs English clubs: W12 D11 L18 F40 A51
Home record vs English clubs: W8 D7 L6

PSV have already played English opponents in Eindhoven this season, twice coming from behind to beat Liverpool 3-2 on Matchday 8.

The 2-0 home win against Arsenal in 2022 is PSV's only other victory in their last ten games against English clubs (D4 L4); they have won only five of the last 27 (D9 L13).

However, a 1-2 defeat by Leicester in the 2021/22 UEFA Conference League quarter-final second leg (1-2 aggregate) is PSV's only reverse in six home games against Premier League visitors (W3 D2).

That was PSV's last two-legged tie against English opposition and made their aggregate record W5 L5.

Last season PSV finished second behind Arsenal to earn a first knockout appearance since 2015/16 only to lose out to eventual finalists Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16 (1-1 h, 0-2 a).

That made PSV's record in the round of 16 W2 L3, their previous tie eight years earlier ending in an 8-7 defeat on penalties by Atlético de Madrid in the only Champions League tie to finish goalless.

This season PSV have defeated Girona (4-0), Shakhtar Donetsk, Liverpool (both 3-2) and Juventus in Eindhoven to make it five wins in 16 Champions League home matches (D7 L4), all in their last eight games.

PSV are unbeaten in nine home Champions League games, Matchday 1 to final (W5 D4), since a 1-2 loss against Barcelona on Matchday 5 in 2018/19.

Arsenal

Record vs Dutch clubs: W8 D8 L4 F28 A13
Away record vs Dutch clubs: W3 D4 L3

The 2022 defeat in Eindhoven is Arsenal's only loss in their last nine against Dutch clubs (W5 D3).

The Gunners have not won in Netherlands since a 2-0 victory at Twente in the 2008/09 Champions League third qualifying round first leg (6-0 aggregate) – they have since drawn two games and lost the other.

Arsenal's record in two-legged ties against Dutch clubs is W1 L2, the last contest bringing their first victory against Twente in 2008.

Having not featured in the Champions League proper between 2016/17 and 2023/24, Arsenal are making their second successive appearance.

Mikel Arteta's side finished first in Group B last season and then edged past Porto (0-1 a, 1-0 h, 4-2 pens) – their first round of 16 success since 2009/10, also against the Portuguese side – but lost to Bayern München in the quarter-finals (2-2 h, 0-1 a).

Arsenal's record in the round of 16 is W6 L9. They won five of their first seven ties but were on a run of seven successive defeats before last season's defeat of Porto.

Arsenal have won 14 of their last 25 away European matches, losing only six – although those defeats have come in their last 15. This season they have drawn at Atalanta (0-0), lost 0-1 at Inter Milan and won at Sporting CP (5-1), equalling their biggest away Champions League victory, and Girona (2-1).
