Form guide

Inter

Record vs French clubs: W11 D8 L7 F39 A27
Home record vs French clubs: W6 D4 L3

Inter's last games against French opponents came in the 2014/15 UEFA Europa League group stage, when they drew home (0-0) and away (1-1) against St-Étienne.

A 1-0 defeat at Marseille in the 2011/12 Champions League round of 16 first leg – a tie they went on to lose on away goals after a 2-1 home success in the second leg – is Inter's only reverse in their last six games against Ligue 1 teams. That home victory against OM is, however, one of only three in Inter's last 12 contests with French teams (D5 L4).

At home it is two wins in Inter's last six matches against clubs from France (D2 L2).

This is the Nerazzurri's 18th appearance in the Champions League, and a seventh in succession.

The run to the 2023 final was Inter's most successful campaign since lifting the trophy in 2010. Simone Inzaghi's side were second behind Real Sociedad in Group D in 2023/24 but were then edged out by Atlético de Madrid in the round of 16 (1-0 h, 1-2 a, 2-3 pens).

That was the second time in the last three seasons than Inter's campaign had foundered in the last 16.

Inter have won 13 of their last 25 home Champions League games (D7 L5), although 12 of their last 16 (D2 L2) including against Crvena Zvezda (4-0), Arsenal and Leipzig (both 1-0) this season.

Champions of Europe in 1964, 1965 and 2010, Inter claimed their 20th Serie A title in 2023/24. It was their first since 2021 and only a second in the past 14 seasons.

Monaco

Record vs Italian clubs: W4 D3 L9 F12 A25
Away record vs Italian clubs: W1 D1 L7

Monaco have already visited Italy in the league phase, Thilo Kehrer's 86th-minute effort earning a 1-0 win at Bologna on Matchday 4.

That ended Monaco's five-match losing streak away to Italian sides and was only their fourth goal in those nine matches – they have never scored more than once in a fixture.

Les Monégasques' previous six games against Italian opponents were all against Juventus, with four defeats and a single victory.

This is Monaco's tenth appearance in the Champions League proper and a first since 2018/19.

Runners-up to Porto in 2003/04, Monaco have lost twice in Champions League qualifying since that last group appearance, going out to Shakhtar Donetsk in the 2021/22 play-offs (2-3 aggregate) and PSV Eindhoven in the third qualifying round a year later (3-4 agg).

The 2022/23 campaign is Monaco's most recent in European football. Having lost to PSV, they moved across to the Europa League, losing to Bayer Leverkusen in the knockout round play-offs (3-2 a, 2-3 h aet, 3-5 pens).

The win at Bologna on Matchday 4 this season – which followed a 2-2 Matchday 2 draw at GNK Dinamo and preceded the 3-0 loss at Arsenal on Matchday 6 – is one of five in Les Monégasques' last 21 away European matches (D8 L8) and a third in the last seven (D2 L2).

Adi Hütter's side sealed a return to the Champions League proper by finishing second in Ligue 1 in 2023/24. It was Monaco's highest final league placing since 2017/18, when they were also runners-up to Paris.
