One point separates Stuttgart and Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League as they meet in Germany in the fourth round of matches.
Stuttgart have four points after following their opening 3-1 defeat at holders Real Madrid with a 1-1 draw at home to Sparta Praha and, thanks to a 92nd-minute strike from on-loan Atalanta forward El Bilal Touré, a 1-0 victory at Juventus.
Atalanta are on five points, 0-0 draws at home to Arsenal and Celtic sandwiching a 3-0 victory at Shakhtar Donetsk.
This is the teams' first meeting.

The Matchday 3 win at Juventus was Stuttgart's first in Italy and just their second in their last 11 games against Serie A sides (D3 L6). It also ended a six-game run without a victory against Italian teams (D2 L4).
Stuttgart's last home game against Italian visitors was a 0-2 reverse to Lazio in the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League round of 16 first leg – a tie they went on to lose 1-5 on aggregate – making it successive defeats against Serie A clubs in Germany having been unbeaten in the first three (W2 D1).
This is Stuttgart's fourth appearance in the Champions League proper and a first since 2009/10. Then they were second in their section to reach the round of 16, where they were eliminated by holders Barcelona (1-1 h, 0-4 a).
Stuttgart won their first three home games in the Champions League proper but have only two victories in the subsequent nine (D3 L4).
The German club have not taken part in European competition since 2013/14, when their UEFA Europa League campaign lasted two ties. They beat Botev Plovdiv of Bulgaria on away goals in the third qualifying round (1-1 a, 0-0 h) but lost out to Croatia's Rijeka in the qualifying play-offs (1-2 a, 2-2 h).
Stuttgart are without a win in eight home European matches (D6 L2), since a 2-0 defeat of Dinamo Moskva in the 2012/13 Europa League qualifying play-offs.
Sebastian Hoeneß guided Stuttgart to second place in the 2023/24 Bundesliga. It was the Swabians' highest league finish since winning the last of their five league titles in 2006/07.

Atalanta's last game against German opposition was the 3-0 defeat of Bayer Leverkusen at the Dublin Arena in last season's Europa League final.
Their previous tie with a Bundesliga team had ended in a 1-3 aggregate defeat by Leipzig in the 2021/22 Europa League quarter-finals (1-1 a, 0-2 h).
Atalanta's sole win in Germany was a 1-0 success at Leverkusen in the round of 16 second leg of that 2021/22 campaign, completing a 4-2 aggregate success.
Atalanta claimed only the club's second major silverware – and a first top-flight trophy since the 1962/63 Coppa Italia – with their win against Leverkusen in May, Ademola Lookman scoring the first Europa League final hat-trick.
Gasperini's team had won their section ahead of Sporting CP, Sturm Graz and Raków Częstochowa before edging past Sporting again in the round of 16 (1-1 a, 2-1). They stunned Liverpool in the quarter-finals (3-0 a, 0-1 h) and then got the better of Marseille (1-1 a, 3-0 h) to set up that final triumph.
Atalanta are taking part in the Champions League proper for the fourth time – all since 2019 – in 2024/25.
La Dea's win at Shakhtar on Matchday 2 ended a four-game run without a victory in Champions League away games (D2 L2) having won five of their first seven matches (L2).
The Italian side have two wins in their last 11 Champions League matches (D5 L4).
The Bergamo club were fourth in Serie A last season, their fifth top-four finish in eight seasons.
Atalanta began the season with a 2-0 loss to Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup in Warsaw on 14 August.

Stuttgart's record in this season's Bundesliga is W3 D4 L2. On Friday they drew 0-0 at champions Bayer Leverkusen.
On 26 October they won 2-1 at home against Holstein Kiel, their only win in five league matches (D3 L1).
The Swabians are unbeaten in 16 Bundesliga home games (W11 D5), their longest run in 17 years.

On Sunday two first-half Ademola Lookman goals and an added-time third from substitute Mateo Retegui gave Atalanta a 3-0 victory at Serie A leaders Napoli, making it five successive Serie A wins with 18 goals scored and two conceded.
Atalanta marked Gian Piero Gasperini’s 400th game in charge with a 6-1 win at home to Verona on 26 October.
Retegui scored twice and has 11 Serie A goals since joining Atalanta in the summer.
Lookman also scored two and now has six goals in eight Serie A games this season.
Atalanta have the best attack in Serie A with 29 goals in 11 games.
Gianluca Scamacca and Giorgio Scalvini have been ruled out until 2025 with knee ligament injuries.
Marco Brescianini was a late substitute at Napoli having been out since 28 September due to thigh injury.
