Powered by characteristically fervent support from their famous 'Yellow Wall', Dortmund claimed a 1-0 first-leg win courtesy of Niclas Füllkrug's fine first-half finish – his touch to bring the ball down was something else. Kylian Mbappé and Achraf Hakimi were both denied by the woodwork as Paris pressed for parity, but Dortmund clung on to pole position ahead of the return. "That's football," said Paris coach Luis Enrique. "Sometimes it's wonderful, and then other times, that's how it goes. We'll have to analyse the chances created by both teams."
There remains the very real chance that Dortmund could now reach their first final since 2013; this season's showpiece is once again at Wembley, and their opponents could once again be domestic rivals Bayern. But Paris will be throwing everything at this to avoid that final repeat as they continue their quest for that elusive first Champions League crown – the closest they came was defeat in the 2020 decider when they succumbed to Bayern.

Spared domestic duties once again this weekend, Paris have had ample time to lick their wounds from the first leg. While defeat against Dortmund in Germany wasn't a knockout blow, it has provided food for thought. As the camp attested to in their post-match comments, Luis Enrique's men will look to channel the fervour generated by an expectant Parc des Princes crowd. If they can remedy their profligacy in front of goal, the Parisians should have enough to qualify for their second Champions League final.

The euphoria in Dortmund is great after the 1-0 win in the first leg. However, BVB will have to put in a much better away performance this time than in Eindhoven and at Atlético in order to progress. Paris created plenty of chances in the first leg, and Dortmund will not have the advantage of 80,000 passionate fans behind them this time. It is still a very big challenge for them to reach the final, despite the first-leg result.

Luis Enrique, Paris coach: "The goal is to reach the final, and to do that we have to be better than a great team like Dortmund. There is always room for improvement and we have worked on it. Two goals can be scored in three seconds, but we can also concede two goals in that time. 'On va a gagner'. It's the only phrase I know in French: We are going to win."
Edin Terzić, Dortmund coach: "You have to earn your way to Wembley. All we need now is a draw in the second leg, but we also want to win. We have a small lead and a good opportunity. We have to do everything together - with a good plan, with a good idea. Paris will certainly be better than last week. We want to earn this ticket to the final. We will tackle that together."
