Champions path
Conditions of the draw
In accordance with paragraphs 13.03 and 13.04 of the Regulations of the UEFA Champions League 2023/24, the UEFA administration formed groups and seeded clubs for the third qualifying round draw (champions path) based on the club rankings established at the start of the season and the principles set out by the Club Competitions Committee.
The 12 teams (two that enter the competition at this stage and the ten winners of the second qualifying round champions path ties, indicated for the purposes of this draw as Winners of Matches 1 to 10) were divided into two groups of six teams.
Within each of the two groups, the teams were divided into an equal number of seeded and unseeded teams (six seeded teams and six unseeded teams in total).
The winners of a second qualifying round match were seeded for the third qualifying round draw if either of the clubs involved in the match had a coefficient that would entitle it to be seeded.
Draw procedure
Three bowls were prepared for the draw, with the balls containing the names of the seeded and unseeded teams from Group 1 placed in the corresponding marked bowls.
One ball was then taken from each of these bowls and placed in the third empty central bowl, where they were shuffled. The first team drawn from this bowl was then considered the home team for the first tie, and will play against the second team drawn.
This procedure was carried out with the remaining balls to complete all the pairings for the first group. The same procedure was then repeated to determine the pairings for the second group.
