The UEFA Champions League preliminary round draw has taken place at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland, mapping out the first stage of the 2023/24 season.

When and where does the Champions League preliminary round take place?
The preliminary round semi-finals take place on 27 June, with the final three days later. All ties are one-off matches and will be staged at Kópavogsvöllur in Kópavogur, Iceland.
What is the Champions League preliminary round?
The preliminary round is a mini-tournament consisting of semi-finals on 27 June and a final on 30 June, all one-off matches to be played in Iceland.
The preliminary round winners will progress to the first qualifying round, which will comprise two-legged ties taking place on 11/12 and 18/19 July. The other three teams transfer to the UEFA Europa Conference League Champions Path second qualifying round.
Conditions of the draw
In accordance with paragraphs 13.03 and 13.04 of the Regulations of the UEFA Champions League 2023/24, the UEFA administration seeded clubs for the preliminary round draw based on the club rankings established at the beginning of the season, and the principles set by the Club Competitions Committee.
The four teams were divided equally into two seeded teams and two unseeded teams:

Draw procedure
Semi-finals
- Three bowls were prepared for the draw, with the balls containing the names of the seeded teams placed in one bowl marked 'Seeded', and the balls containing the names of the unseeded teams placed in the bowl marked 'Unseeded'.
- One ball was then taken from each of these bowls and placed in the third empty central bowl, where they were shuffled.
- The first team drawn from this bowl was considered the home team for the first tie, against the second team drawn.
- The same procedure was then repeated for the second semi-final.
Final
For administrative purpose, for the final, the winners of semi-final 1 (Atlètic Club d'Escaldes or Budućnost Podgorica) will be considered as the home team (finalist 1), and the winners of semi-final 2 will be considered as the away team (finalist 2).
