eChampions League 2023: Knockout Stage format explained

After navigating their way through the Group Stage, the 32 eChampions League Knockout Stage competitors will face off for a place in the Finals in Istanbul on 7 June.

Before they can think about this summer's Finals, though, they need to survive an intense double elimination bracket in the Knockout Stage, which will be held over two days in Stratford, London.

When and where is the eChampions League Knockout Stage?

The Knockout Stage will take place on 22 and 23 April at the Here East Theatre in Stratford, with the eight surviving players advancing to the eChampions League Finals in Istanbul on 7 June.

How do the eChampions League Knockout Stage work?

Day 1

All 32 competitors are in action in the first round of the Knockout Stage. The 16 winners progress into the Upper Bracket, while the losers drop into the Lower Bracket.

The 16 players demoted to the Lower Bracket will be eliminated from the tournament if they suffer another defeat. The eight winners, however, will advance to Day 2 of the Knockout Stage.

In the Upper Bracket, the eight beaten players in the Round of 16 will drop into the Lower Bracket, where they will face off on Day 2.

The eight winners progress to Day 1's concluding round – the Upper Bracket's Round of 8. The four winners will secure a spot in the Finals, with the four losers returning to action in the Lower Bracket on Day 2.

Day 2

From hereon in, all defeated players are eliminated from the competition.

The eight winners in the Lower Bracket's Round of 16 will advance to the first of two Rounds of 8. The four winners in Round of 8A will take on the four beaten players from the Upper Bracket's Round of 8.

The four winners from Round of 8B will join the four undefeated players from the Upper Bracket in the Finals in Istanbul on 7 June.
