UEFA.com lends #UCLfantasy managers a helping hand with four captaincy options considered ahead of the return of the UEFA Champions League.
With Matchday 7 split over four separate days, one standout option from each day has been considered for managers on #UCLfantasy, presented by Playstation.
TUESDAY 14 FEBRUARY
Lionel Messi (€10.6m) vs Bayern (H)
Perhaps the most eye-catching tie of the round is the meeting between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern München, who have plenty of recent history in this competition. Bayern were victorious in the 2019/20 final, while Paris gained revenge in the following season's quarter-finals. Both those ties came before Messi's move to the French capital though, and the FIFA World Cup winner is enjoying a fine run of form coming into this tie. The injury to Kylian Mbappé means there is an even greater need for Messi to perform, but the 35-year-old delivered four goals and four assists during the group stage, making him the second highest Fantasy points scorer among forwards.
WEDNESDAY 15 FEBRUARY
Jude Bellingham (€7.5m) vs Chelsea (H)
Another player who was a top performer at the World Cup, Bellingham established himself as a highly attractive Fantasy asset in the group stage, with five attacking returns from his five appearances. The 19-year-old's lowest score during those appearances was five points, and he found the net in Dortmund's first four fixtures. Having already reached double figures for goals in all competitions this season, Bellingham has one goal and two assists since Dortmund's domestic season resumed last month and shows no signs of slowing down his output as Edin Terzić's side prepare to host Chelsea on Matchday 7.
TUESDAY 21 FEBRUARY
Victor Osimhen (€7.9m) vs Frankfurt (A)
Fantasy managers who have been playing attention to domestic football around Europe may already be aware of the Napoli striker's rich vein of goalscoring form. The Nigerian's last five league appearances have brought seven goals and he is Serie A's top scorer with 16 goals. Napoli's impressive group stage campaign came mostly without the services of the 24-year-old, so Osimhen could add an extra dimension to their attack for the knockout stages. He also holds significant differential appeal due to his limited ownership ahead of the last-16 tie against Eintracht Frankfurt.
WEDNESDAY 22 FEBRUARY
Erling Haaland (€11.1m) vs Leipzig (A)
Last season's two group games between Manchester City and Leipzig brought 12 goals, and a similar end product this time round could benefit Fantasy managers. Haaland is unsurprisingly the pick of the bunch when it comes to City assets, the Norwegian hitting five goals in just four appearances as the Premier League side won Group G unbeaten. Haaland scored six goals in four appearances against Leipzig for Dortmund, making him the stand-out option for the final gameday of Matchday 7.
