Expert predictions

Matthew Howarth, Man. City reporter: City’s 2-0 victory in February set up what should be a comfortable return leg. Pep Guardiola's side have won 23 of their previous 24 games across all competitions, and they are in no mood to let those remarkable standards slip against a Gladbach side who have faltered of late after a strong first half to the campaign. I fully expect the Citizens to qualify for the last eight in style.

James Thorogood, Gladbach reporter: With just one win from their last ten competitive outings, Gladbach's season is crumbling around them. It could have been different had Hannes Wolf scored late in Budapest in the first leg, but having set a low bar with their worst performance in the UEFA Champions League this season, the Foals have nothing to lose in the second leg.

View from the camps

Pep Guardiola, City manager: "We're going to try to win tomorrow and go to the quarter-finals. This is the only target I have. Is this the best City side I have had? Right now it is worse because the previous teams won a lot and this team haven't won anything. We are validated by the results and the titles we can lift, especially from outside. That's why the previous teams won and this team still has to prove it."

Marco Rose, Gladbach coach: "It's an important game for us; it's a Champions League fixture and we worked hard to be here. We lost the first leg 2-0, but we will try to change some things and put in a better performance this time around."

Florian Neuhaus, Gladbach midfielder: "City played with a very high line [in the first leg] and if we'd been better with the final ball in behind, there might have been more in it for us. We have to be braver in the second leg."
