Chris Burke, Paris reporter: They may have fallen short, but Lyon did their domestic rivals a big favour on Wednesday – by removing Bayern's aura of invincibility. Paris will have watched the second semi-final licking their lips at the German side's high defensive line and backing themselves to bury the chances OL missed. Having added belief and unity to their obvious talent, Thomas Tuchel's men appear ready to sit in the throne of European champions, and beating Bayern to get there would remove any doubt that they deserve the crown.

Jordan Maciel, Bayern reporter: Bayern and Paris meet in a clash of treble hopefuls. With both squads boasting such attacking talent, this is a game that could be decided by the team that defends best. Tuchel will take note of how Barcelona and Lyon found ways to exploit the Bayern back line, albeit without success, while Hans-Dieter Flick's approach will be clear: concentrate, press from the first second, and score early. In short: more of the same.

Thomas Tuchel, Paris coach: "They're on a unique run at this moment. It’s a mix of young players who are hungry and they also have experience with seasoned campaigners in the side. I speak a lot with Keylor Navas [as a former winner] and we also have Ángel Di María and Neymar who've won this competition. It is a slight advantage for Bayern that they're used to being involved in finals such as this one. However, that won't be a decisive advantage."

Hans-Dieter Flick, Bayern coach: "We are going to try to produce our best performance out there and play our best football. Only if we are able to do that, if we are all at 100 per cent in terms of our performance levels, will we be able to win the match. They have only conceded five goals in the Champions League, the fewest in the competition, so it means their back line works like their front line does. We have a game plan and I hope we can carry it out."

What's next?

The UEFA Champions League winners will contest the UEFA Super Cup against UEFA Europa League winners Sevilla in Budapest on Thursday 24 September. Both Paris and Bayern are already assured of being in the UEFA Champions League group stage draw in Athens on 1 October.

The trophy ceremony will be held after the final whistle on the pitch.

The UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin will present the trophy to the winning team, and also hand over the medals to the players and staff of both teams. The trophy ceremony procedure has been aligned with the local authorities. All officials involved in the trophy presentation have undergone COVID-19 testing, and will not be required to wear masks.

As already announced ahead of the UEFA club competition final tournaments played in Portugal (UEFA Champions League), Germany (UEFA Europa League) and Spain (UEFA Women's Champions League), UEFA's top management and operational staff in contact with the participating club's players and staff have been regularly tested throughout the tournament.
