Major signing
The 24-year-old midfield player has signed for the Maltese champions after being released by the Bulgarian side. He has become Sliema's fifth major close season signing, following the arrival of Lee Lombardi, Jamie Pace, Dybrill Sylla and Daniel Bogdanovic.
Tough decision
However, the former Valletta FC player admitted that he was not looking forward to facing his old side in the league. "I just find it difficult to imagine myself playing against Valletta in the Maltese Premier League," he said. "Valletta have been my life, but of course in professional football you have got to decide in the end what suits you best, and this is why I chose Sliema."
Unfinished business
Sliema beat off competition from Bulgarian sides PFC Naftex Burgas and PFC Slavia Sofia to sign Giglio, but the player admitted that, having left CSKA after falling out with coach Stoycho Mladenov, he still wanted to play abroad. "My main target is that of playing abroad again," he said. "I leave Bulgaria on a bitter note. All I want now is to have a good season with my new club."
Skonto beckons
Giglio will link up with his new team-mates at Sliema as they prepare for next week's first leg of their UEFA Champions League first qualifying round tie against Latvian champions FC Skonto.
