Drogba makes Marseille move

Olympique de Marseille have completed the signing of striker Didier Drogba from En Avant Guingamp.

Olympique de Marseille have completed the signing of Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba from En Avant Guingamp for an undisclosed multi-million euro fee.

Prolific season
The 25-year-old, who has signed a five-year contract, was a revelation in Ligue 1 last season, scoring 17 times in 34 matches to finish third in the goalscorers' table behind AS Monaco FC's Shabani Nonda and Pauleta of FC Girondins de Bordeaux. Drogba first appeared in the French top flight for Guingamp in the 2000/01 season after three years at second division Le Mans UC 72.

Second signing
Drogba is Marseille's second major signing in three days after the southern club recruited Czech international Štepan Vachoušek on a four-year contract from SK Slavia Praha. Marseille finished third in France last season and will enter the UEFA Champions League in the third qualifying round.
