Scholes setback for United

Manchester United FC will be deprived of Paul Scholes for a month after he underwent groin surgery.

Groin injury
The 28-year-old England international underwent surgery on a long-standing groin problem on Tuesday and is expected to be out of action for a month. Scholes missed four matches with the injury in the early part of the season but it was thought it had healed in recent weeks.

'Recurring problem'
"Paul Scholes's groin problem has reoccurred and he has had to have surgery to both groins," United said in a statement on their official website. "He is likely to be out for three to four weeks."

Significant loss
Scholes will definitely skip United's UEFA Champions League game with Scottish champions Rangers FC on Matchday 4, and must be considered doubtful for the trip to Panathinaikos FC on 26 November. In addition, the player, who has scored 13 goals in 58 appearances for his country, looks certain to miss England's friendly against Denmark on 16 November.
