Sérgio Conceição back at Porto

Portugal midfield player Sérgio Conceição has returned home to rejoin FC Porto.

Sérgio Conceição has rejoined the Portuguese champions FC Porto three days after leaving S.S. Lazio by mutual consent.

Numerous honours
The 29-year-old won two league titles and two Portuguese Cups in his first spell at Porto. He left the club in 1998 in an €11.2m transfer to Lazio, where he won the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and a Serie A-Italian Cup double. He subsequently joined FC Internazionale and made 41 appearances over two years before returning to the Stadio Olimpico.

'Strong feelings'
Sérgio Conceição has signed a contract until the end of the season with the option of another year. "I am returning home," he said. "My strong feelings for the club were behind my decision. I know Porto very well and I know that we can win things together. It is a dream come true, I never forgot the wonderful times I had. I want to settle quickly into the team and I know this will be easy as I have many friends here."

Hat-trick
The midfield player will not be eligible for the UEFA Champions League having played four times in the competition for Lazio this season. Sérgio Conceição will hope to be included in Portugal's UEFA EURO 2004™ squad, though. He has scored 12 goals, including a hat-trick against Germany at EURO 2000™, for his country in 56 appearances.
