Article body
Long-term problem
The 28-year-old Netherlands international went under the surgeon's knife this morning in Amsterdam. "He has been struggling with this problem for long time and we decided it was the best time of the season for him to undergo the surgery," said Milan club doctor Jean-Pierre Meersseman. "The fragment was caused by old knocks but Seedorf had played despite the pain. The operation was completely successful."
Unique achievement
Seedorf is the only player to have won the European Champion Clubs' Cup with three different clubs - AFC Ajax, Real Madrid CF and Milan. The Serie A champions will begin the 2004/05 UEFA Champions League campaign in the group stage. Last season they were knocked out of the competition in the quarter finals by RC Deportivo La Coruña.
