Fee agreed
Barcelona will pay a fee of €6.2m for the 20-year-old, who has signed a four-and-a-half year contract. López, scorer of 16 goals in the 2004 season in Argentina, is a product of River's youth programme and made his senior debut three seasons ago, aged 17.
'Powerful striker'
López's qualities have brought him comparisons with Hernán Crespo and Gabriel Batistuta and he told the Barcelona fans what they can expect as he explained: "You could say I am a powerful striker, with good ball control and speed. I can play on the right and the left side - right across the forward line."
Follows Albertini
López is Barça's second signing of the week after the veteran Italian midfield player Demetrio Albertini was unveiled on Tuesday. López passed his medical this afternoon and his presence should help compensate for Henrik Larsson's likely absence for the rest of the season through injury.
