Promising youngster
The 21-year-old Peruvian international has emerged as one of the most promising young forwards in the Bundesliga, scoring six goals in nine league appearances this term - including seven as a substitute. As a result, the UEFA Champions League contenders have lengthened his original contraact, due to expire in 2006, by a further two years.
Fine progress
Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: "Paolo has developed really well in recent months. We know that numerous clubs in Europe were lining up bids to lure him away. We obviously wanted to prevent that and therefore we have handed him a new deal until 2008." Guerrero, a former Bayern trainee, made his first-team debut in last season's German Cup but had to wait until the current campaign to break into the Bundesliga side.
