The 21-year-old becomes the second player to leave the Setúbal club for the SuperLiga runners-up after the acquisition of midfielder Sandro, 28, earlier this month. Paulo Ribeiro will provide competition for Vítor Baía, having been part of the Portuguese team that reached the final of the 2003 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, saving two penalties in the last-four victory against Austria.

Another Vitória player, Brazilian playmaker Jorginho, could also be on his way to the 2003/04 UEFA Champions League winners, as could his compatriot, UD Leiria goalkeeper Hélton.
