Lille deal for Dumont

Stéphane Dumont has signed a two-year extension to his contract with Ligue 1 runners-up LOSC Lille Métropole.

Local hero
The 22-year-old, who is a product of Lille's youth system, has agreed to extend his existing deal until June 2010 after an excellent season for Claude Puel's side. Having played eight UEFA Cup games this term, he will be eligible for UEFA Champions League football in 2005/06.

Important role
Dumont also made 32 appearances in Ligue 1, often taking the captain's armband in the absence of Philippe Brunel. With Brunel and fellow midfielder Christophe Landrin now having left the northern French team, Dumont can expect to play an even more important role in the coming campaign.
