Vast experience
The Polish international, capped 74 times by his country, joined Schalke from Bundesliga rivals VfL Bochum 1848 in 1999 and has made 139 appearances for the club. His previous contract was due to expire at the end of the month.
Successful campaign
The defender played 14 Bundesliga games last season as Schalke finished second to qualify for the UEFA Champions League and reach the German Cup final. The veteran also figured five times in Schalke’s UEFA Cup campaign that was ended by FC Shakhtar Donetsk in the Round of 32.
'Wonderful character'
“We know we can rely on Tomasz," said Schalke manager Rudi Assauer. "He has done a lot for the club, is a wonderful character and a perfect professional. He is able to hold his own on the pitch even though he is 34."
